ABSTRACT
The electoral process is a fundamental part of any representative democratic government. For years, the Clifford and Macpherson constitutions served as the foundation for Nigeria’s western representational democracy.
This was expanded upon at independence during the second republic and succeeding decades. Very ugly experience has characterised the actions with the electoral process,
which comprises the hot questions in this job during these sparing periods. Malpractice fraud and, as a result, violence have plagued Nigerian politics throughout history.
The first republic’s election highlighted ethnicity, whereas the second republic’s presidential election recorded its unpleasant tendencies in a polished form.
This time, money and corruption dominated the race for electoral malpractices in the past and contemporary political system.
Finally, the study connects the country’s political difficulties back to basic socio-institutional foundations such as ethnicity, material consciousness, and others.
