Abstract

The study investigates the influence of Facebook and 2Go as successful interpersonal communication platforms, with a particular emphasis on students at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. There is no doubt that the world has become a global village, as proposed by Professor Marshall McLuhan.

According to him, the world has been compressed into a single electronic room where knowledge from far and near may be transferred with the click of a mouse.

However, social media is one of the internet technologies that facilitates effective, interactive, interpersonal, and immediate feedback in communication between people, particularly in this era of ICT.

There is no denying that social media, particularly Facebook and 2go, are the most popular and successful ways for people to communicate and interact with one another, regardless of geography or time. The survey method was used to collect data from respondents through the use of a questionnaire.

Nigerian students should make good use of converged media in order to avoid being constrained to one or a few sources of knowledge when there are several options available.

Despite the availability of electronic media, youth should maintain their existing offline interactions while producing value. Future researchers should conduct questionnaires that encourage students to discuss personal issues such as social identity.
