Abstract
The role of advertising in society is contentious, owing to the fact that opinions about it are heavily intertwined with more fundamental vows and beliefs about how society operates and should operate. Advertising serves several basic functions in society.
First, it serves the marketing function by assisting companies that provide products, services, and ideas in selling their products through personal selling and sales production.
Some advertising, on the other hand, may be intended to provide a public service by informing us about goods and services. It’s no surprise that the International Advertising Association states that “the consumer requires advertising to be properly informed.”
Despite the rise of electronic media, billboard advertising has become increasingly popular for product promotion and has come to dominate other forms of advertising. As a result of billboard advertising, it has emerged as a subsidiary of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, which is recognized by advertisers (APCON).
The rise in billboard advertising highlights the effectiveness of billboards in product promotion. Billboards are typically placed in areas with high vertical and human traffic. As a result, users of such points are subjected to the advertisement on the board on a regular basis.
