APPRAISAL OF PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION POLICY
SUMMARY
The effect of physical distribution rules on pure water was the main topic of this investigation. A Yoyo pure water case study.
Several of the following goals were established in order to conduct the research.
— To ascertain whether customers are content with Yoyo Pure Water’s distribution strategies in the city of Enugu.
– To ascertain how Yoyo Pure Water Company’s profitability is affected by distribution
To provide answers and recommendations on how to address and resolve distribution issues that have been found.
Four hypotheses were developed based on these, and information was gathered using questionnaires. A thorough literature evaluation was conducted on previous research, textbooks, and periodicals related to the field of study.
While conducting a staff census, the sample size of consumers was calculated using Bourley’s formula.
As the chi-square test was used to evaluate the study hypothesis, the acquired data were analysed, presented on statistical tables, and interpreted.
The analysis produced the following conclusions:
The Yoyo firm ensures that their clients can easily obtain their products.
– That Yoyo Pure Water Company’s distribution strategies boost consumer loyalty and have a beneficial effect on the business’s bottom line.
The recommendations that followed were based on this.
– That the business should keep refining its distribution strategies.
That the business must continue to provide its clients with effective and high-quality services.
That the business should keep an eye on the marketing landscape to make sure that its distribution strategies are still relevant and help it serve the market effectively.Section I
Section 1.0: Introduction
1.1 Background of The study
Many people have narrow conceptions of distribution; they mistakenly believe it to be a tactic exclusive to production and marketing. These days, with demands and business conditions changing quickly, it’s critical that Yoyo employees, staff, and management fully understand the significance of distributions and reliance on the services.
Given that the survival and profitability of the satchet water industry depend on distribution, it is imperative that the industry build resilience in order to adapt to the increasingly complex and sophisticated economic needs of its clientele.
Numerous issues plague Nigeria’s supply of potable water, including low-quality extension services, unequal input distribution, expensive labour costs, etc. However, marketing and distribution are the most important but frequently overlooked.
One must first grasp the definition of distribution in general in order to completely comprehend what the distribution of Satchat water service implies to customers.
Distribution encompasses more than just the loading, unloading, and transportation of finished items from the manufacturer to their final locations.
The current needs in these areas of marketing are difficult to comprehend until one considers the different distribution-related activities.
Producers of goods and services used a variety of routes known as distribution channels to make their products available to consumers. According to Zikmunal et al. (P. 312), the word “earn” has its roots in a French word that denotes a path that something travels through.
Thus, channels of distribution are all the pathways or routes that products and services take on their way from manufacturers or producers to consumers.
Stern and his colleagues (stan etal: 1982, P.3) see them as collections of linked organisations engaged in the process of preparing a good or service for use or consumption.
In order for the yo-yo industry to continue, profits must be made in addition to meeting client needs. Offering products and services to consumers is the primary goal of distribution, which also takes into account the company’s strengths and weaknesses.
Providing the appropriate services at the appropriate moment, at the appropriate cost, to the appropriate clients, and at the appropriate location is all part of proper distribution.
1.2 THE STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM.
In order for this firm to exist, the distribution of satchet water is the main focus of this study. It must be ready to defend the distributions principle of the customer’s dominance over all others. Maintaining the consumer’s hegemony requires recognising and meeting certain requirements.
Customers’ wants and needs must be clearly identified, followed by the creation of services that at least somewhat match what the client desires.
The following issues are found.
1. The industry rarely carries distribution since it has not recognised its role in its operations.
2. Expert hands are rarely used by the industry to offer its services.
The study’s objective is outlined in 1.3
Given the above-described problems with the satchet water industry, the study critically examines Yo Yo Pure Water in an effort to identify the industry’s unique issues, particularly with regard to consumer orientation.
As a result, management is given recommendations on how to enhance distribution devices in order to effectively meet customer needs and thereby preserve the existence of the business units that comprise the industry. In light of this, the research aims to accomplish the following specific goals:-
1. To assess how the satellite services industries distribute their products.
2. To determine whether there are opportunities for increased productivity in the public services provided.
3. Customer loyalty is a key indicator of good distribution.
4. To calculate the advantages or drawbacks for the clients.
5. Lastly, look at the possibility of lessening the issues caused by inadequate tools and machinery.
Formulation of hypothesis (1.4):
Among the study’s hypotheses are the following:
Ho: Customers are dissatisfied with the grade of services that the bottled water sector is currently providing.
Hello: Customers are happy with the grade of services that the bottled water sector now provides.
Ho2: YoYo satchet water distribution network inefficient
Ho2: There is an effective distribution network
Ho3: The availability of satchet water is not affected by the selection made.
Ho3: The availability of satchet water influences the choice.
1.5 THE STUDY’S SIGNIFICANCE:
The outcome of this work will greatly assist Yoyo management in understanding the kind of services their clients want to receive and any barriers there.
This knowledge is crucial because it will allow them to use the distribution concept in a way that will enable them to draw in and keep enough customers to guarantee profitable operations.
The research will also assist the potential satchet water supplier since it will give him insight into potential problems that the industry may face and enable him to take preventative measures. Additionally, the research project comprises.
If new people decide to enter the satchat water industry, this work can also be helpful to them as a decision-making guide.
Ultimately, the research will raise field workers’ awareness of the importance of the catchment water business.
1.6 OVERVIEW OF THE STUDY:
This study examines the physical distribution strategy, with a specific focus on Yoyo Pure Water in Enugu.
Section 1.7: Definition of Terms
1. Distribution channels: products and services that are offered to customers.
2. Marketing strategy – describes the overarching idea or all-inclusive plan of action that the business unit hopes to use to accomplish its marketing goal on a target market (Etgel 1997:330)
3. Physical distribution: this refers to the transfer of completed items or raw materials from the manufacturing facility to the intended customer (Ebue 1996:92)
4. The issue is the phenomena that is taking place, which is the reason for the inquiry.
