ABSTRACT
Traffic control at road junctions, which was formerly done solely by human labour, has become ineffective as the number of motorists and the complexity of road networks have increased.
Vehicular traffic is on the rise around the world, especially in metropolitan cities.As a result, optimisation of traffic signal management systems becomes necessary.
In this study, I explored the creation of computer-based traffic signal controllers for crossroads, particularly two-way traffic roadways. Experimental results show that an automated traffic signal control system outperforms a traffic control system that uses traffic wardens to control traffic.
