ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the challenges faced by professional secretaries working at PHCN Enugu in their line of employment. The researcher employed the survey method to accomplish three study objectives in the course of this investigation. Questionnaires were the primary means of collecting this data. Forty (40) of the fifty questionnaires sent to PHCN Enugu secretaries were returned with all of the required information filled out. In order to conduct the study, the researcher consulted library reference books on the survey method, as well as published publications and, finally, dedications. Some issues were discovered with the research approach indicated earlier, such as insecurity, inadequate modern machinery, bad working circumstances, and misuse of the secretary job, as well as inter-sexual abuse. Improved service quality was one of the suggestions provided by the study’s authors. enhanced workplace harmony strengthened rapport between secretary and boss. At last, despite the researcher’s best efforts, she was unable to overcome the typical obstacles encountered in such an endeavour.

When it comes to carrying out her duties at PHCN Enugu, the secretary has a lot of complications. Both her work environment and her responsibilities could be to blame for these issues. Thus, a secretary’s duties at PHCN Enugu include coordinating the efforts of the many departments that report to her, relaying messages from those departments to the right office, and generally acting as the organization’s lifeblood.
What this implies is that she will be the go-between for the company’s internal communications and its interactions with the outside world. The transmission of information is her responsibility.
Accordingly, the researcher’s goal in investigating this subject is to catalogue the many challenges encountered by secretaries while performing their jobs.
At the same time, the researcher will suggest a long-term remedy to these issues during this session. The researcher will try to uncover the issues and give answers to secretarial functions, therefore this is a worthwhile topic to investigate. Even PHCN Enugu will find this material to be quite beneficial.
1.2 Statement Of The Problem
The administration of PHCN Enugu is largely to blame for the secretary’s difficulties, which have undergone remarkable transformations in recent years and have impeded the secretary’s ability to carry out her duties inside the organisation.
In addition, it has come to light that secretaries encounter numerous challenges, including insufficient supply of facilities, under- or overutilization of secretaries, misuse of secretaries’ roles, inadequate compensation, and a terrible work environment.
I have personally witnessed secretaries departing from this profession due to these issues, and this is not limited to PHCN Enugu. So, the purpose of this research is to find solutions to the issues that professional secretaries at PHCN Enugu in the state of Enugu face in their line of work.
1.3 The Purpose Of The Study
Goals of this research include
i. cataloguing the issues that the secretary encountered while working for PHCN Enugu
ii. Determining how these issues have affected the secretary and the company overall
iii. Making recommendations for how to encourage the secretary to carry out her responsibilities with excellence and efficiency
iv. Counselling the secretary on how to resolve the issue
1.4 The significance Of The Study
Once the issues faced by the secretary are recognised, the PHCN will be able to enhance her working conditions. Similar to how the identification of difficulties would shed light on the fact that the profession is not problem-free, so too would it help newcomers to the field. The goal of the research is to find out how to motivate secretaries so that they work as efficiently as possible.
1.5 Scope of the Study
The researcher had to restrict the study’s scope to PHCN Enugu in Enugu state due to the limited time available and the amount of information that was requested.
