INTRODUCTION

1.0 Background of the Study

Statements, intellectuals, and demographers around the world have expressed alarm over the rapid growth of the population rate during the previous four decades. The present rate of growth. The world population as of May 21, 2010 was projected by the United States Census Bureau to be 6822,200,000.

Annual births have levelled out at around 134 million per year since their peak of 163 million in the late 1990s, and are likely to remain stable. However, deaths are only around 57 million per year and are predicted to rise to 90 million by 2050, as births outnumber deaths.

The world’s population is expected to reach 90 million between 2040 and 2050. The rapid increase in human population over the course of the twentieth century has raised concerns about whether the earth is experiencing overpopulation, and there is scientific consensus that the current population expansion and accompanying increases in resource usage are linked to ecological threats. Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have increased, resulting in global warming and pollution.

Because of this rate of increase, methods were implemented to address the issue. This resulted in the emergency of the “Contraceptive” medicine. Other often used words include birth control, fertility regulation, planned parenthood, and responsive parenthood.

A large sum of money has been spent on family planning and family planning programs in order to raise awareness of its relevance and encourage adoption in higher institutions.

As a result, it is envisaged that adolescents, particularly female students, will be well-versed on contraceptive drugs. Although their adoption of material differs, some have an interesting and positive attitude due to a passive orientation

whereas others perceive the value and go forward and practise it. Sexual activity is especially high among unmarried young, as well as those who use contraception for personal reasons, such as avoiding illegitimate births.

Contraceptive medications should be considered not only in terms of population reduction, but also in terms of the negative consequences of indiscriminate sexual intercourse. A growing number of adolescents not only commence sexual intercourse at an early age, but also participate in many sexual partners.

As a result, there is a high rate of illegal abortions. In most situations, abortion regulations push women to seek illegal abortions, and because most young people are poor, they frequently engage unskilled abortionists, resulting in serious health consequences such as sterility and death.

It is therefore time for society to recognise that the health and even the lives of its young females should not be threatened in order to restrict their sexual engagement. In most underdeveloped countries, young women marry later and have more sex before marriage.

This exposes them to the risk of undesired pregnancy and sexually transmitted Diseases (STDs), such as HIV/AIDS. In these countries, 20% to 60% of young women’s pregnancies and births are unplanned, with the majority occurring sooner than expected.

These pregnancies endanger the health of young women by causing them to have children or undergo risky abortions. Early motherhood is increasingly associated with lost schooling, as well as long-term loss of incomes.
