ABSTRACT
To evaluate the invitro antioxidant capacity of yoyo bitters and its nutritional influence on the weight of male albino wistar rats. Sixteen (16) rats weighing 163±2.00g were randomly assigned to two equal groups (Group A and B). The rats were acclimatised for 7 days, after which 1ml of yoyo bitters was provided once daily to group A for 28 days, whereas group B got distilled water as control. The feed was weighed periodically throughout the trial. Each group received 300g of mash grower feed daily, and the animals were also weighed weekly. After 4 weeks, the test rat’s weight increased significantly (208.08±9.37g) compared to the control group (192.69±10.20g). The relative weights of the liver, kidney, heart, lungs, spleen, testes, and pancreas were shown to be statistically significant (p<0.05). The T test was used to compare total antioxidant capacity, and the results were statistically significant (P<0.05) for hydroxyl free radical activity (P<0.05) and DPPH scavenging activity.

INTRODUCTION
Background of the study.
Oxidative stress is caused by an imbalance between free radicals, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the antioxidant defence system. This imbalance can result in a variety of pathological disorders, such as inflammation, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
Natural antioxidants derived from plants have gained popularity in recent years due to their ability to neutralise free radicals with little negative effects.
Yoyo Bitters is a herbal concoction that is widely used in African traditional medicine to cure a variety of diseases, including malaria, fever, and digestive problems. It contains many plant extracts, including mahogany bark, cinnamon, and clove.
In vitro studies have indicated that Yoyo Bitters has substantial antioxidant activity, making it a promising natural treatment for oxidative stress-related illnesses. However, little research has been undertaken on the nutritional effects of Yoyo Bitters in vivo.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant capacity of Yoyo Bitters and assess its potential nutritional effects on male albino Wistar rats.
