ABSTRACT
Inflammation is a complex biological reaction of vascular tissue to adverse stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants (Ryan & Majno, 1983). The urgency created by the increased rate of stroke and atherosclerosis associated with the prolonged use of cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors has accelerated anti-inflammatory drug research over the last decade, while synthetic pharmaceutical agents have continued to dominate research (Ryan & Majno, 1983). Natural products have received an increasing amount of attention. These are frequently less expensive and more widely available, and they are sometimes thought to be more effective than traditional anti-inflammatory medications. Anti-inflammation was carried out on 12 rats, which were separated into three groups of four each. Groups 1 and 2 functioned as negative and positive controls, respectively. Group 3 got 25mg/kg b.w. of the dichloromethane fraction of methanol extract of Crateva adansonii, which demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory efficacy as compared to the standard difference utilised.
