CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
STUDY BACKGROUND
Having a good family background and cohabitation is the foundation for an improved mind set, which may lead to good dusting. Dusting is thus a mindset that is frequently influenced by family lifestyle, community lifestyle, and associate personal life.
In the context of the project, we will consider how communally life style or cohabitation influence offspring’s education, particularly at the ordinary level of education known as secondary school, using Edo state as a region of study, with Oredo Local Government as an area of study, one of the lifestyles that is very visible in this state’s local government is broken homes.
A broken home is defined as a family in which the parents are divorced or separated by the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary. This act originates in a community and extends to an association. It has become a major impediment to the growth and development of children in Oredo. Many women have given birth to children who have no father; imagine how such children will behave when they begin school.
Broken is associated with indiscipline and sex lust immoral act of some irresponsible men and women, including adolescent young stars. Many innocent souls were killed in abortions and abandoned in gutters and toilets as a result of this immoral act.
Service members in schools, particularly colleges of education in Oredo Local Government Area, face problems such as inadequate financial support, hunger, a lack of self-confidence, humiliation, fear of disillusionment in life, and other devastating challenges.
In reality, students from broken homes in Oredo Local Government’s college of education live a life that reflects frustration.
This is evident in their appearances. A closer look at them would prompt many questions and ideas, one of which would be about the effects.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
As a result of inadequate parental care, parental advice, counseling, and rebuke, students are dull in learning, always struggling in class, have poor physical attire and are disadvantaged, and are unafraid of joining cults and bullying.
According to the teachers’ professional association, the negative impact of widespread divorce and single-parent families in Oredo Local Government Area is concerning. The end of the traditional family is causing a toxic cycle of school failure, poverty, and crime. Many students struggle in class because they were raised in a chaotic home with single mothers and fathers.
STUDY PURPOSE
The goal of this Research Project is to restore human dignity and stability in the lives of college students who want to improve their moral standards of living through self-discipline. In addition, there are risks associated with a lack of mutual understanding between couples in terms of traditional family life.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY
The study is limited to the effect of a broken home on a college education student in Edo State’s Oredo Local Government Area. Because of the brokenness encountered in school by students from broken homes, it is beneficial for parents to live in unity with their family.
QUESTION FOR RESEARCH
According to recent documentaries, the standard of education in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots level, is meeting a positive discrimination, indicating that the education system is set on imbalances.
The researcher is thus ambitious to learn the major cause of this great and public assault on the nation “Nigeria.” The researcher wishes to discover the relationship between homes and falling standards of students’ performance in college of educations, with a preference for OredoLocal Government Area of Edo State of Nigeria.
The researcher views Nigeria’s educational system imbalances as an influential lineament to Nigerian homes and expects to provide answers to the following questions:
– Could poverty, indiscipline, emotional disturbances, and abandonment contribute to social and educational adversity?
– Are students in their early secondary school years (i.e. junior secondary) academically encouraged by co-habiting parents?
– What path does parents’ insecurity and unruly attitude take in their students’ (their children’s) careers?
– Does a broken home have an impact on the academic performance of students in colleges of education?
– What hopes does Break Home have for the country and our educational system?
– What are the motivations of discouraged students whose parents do not live together?
TERMS DEFINITION
Broken home: A broken home is one in which the couple has separated or divorced, and the children have lost both parents. In other words, a broken home is defined as a situation in which there is confusion, misunderstanding, and conflict in the family setup as a result of the couple’s divorce.
In this study, the term “family” refers to a group of parents and children who live in the same house.
Cohabitation: The abandonment of a man and a woman together. The act of leaving a person, thing, or place with no intention of returning, as in their mother’s abandonment as a child.
