Construction projects are known to have time delays for a variety of causes. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the material management technique employed on building projects is related to the project’s anticipated completion time.

Several literatures were read in order to determine the various material management approaches available and classify time overruns. The study focused on building projects in Lagos, and respondents were selected using simple random sampling techniques from lists provided by their various professional groups.

The questionnaire served as the primary data collection technique. The acquired data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.

The study found a negative link between material management technique and variation in project completion time. The study revealed that the more the amount of material management approaches used on a project, the lower the time overrun.

It was suggested that construction businesses utilise multiple material management techniques on construction projects to prevent deviation in scheduled completion time. Material management practices.
