DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ADVANCED MOBILE STORE IN POST COVID 19

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

Coronavirus has had a profound effect on global trends. This transformation has impacted every firm and the way it does business. Coronavirus has had a tremendous influence on the whole ECommerce industry (Pantelimon & Georgescu , 2020). According to (Bhati Anam et al., 2020), 52 percent of customers avoid crowded shopping places, and 36% indicated they would skip physical shopping until they had the vaccination. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, several e-commerce businesses have begun to face short-term disruptions that have impacted their operations. For example, owing to the shutdown of physical shops during the pandemic, the majority of Americans have embraced Advanced mobile stores as a way of purchasing (Ovorekia, 2020). Numerous businesses have seen significant changes in their operating environment as a result of the epidemic.

Overall, sales via Advanced mobile store have surged as a result of the corona virus, as seen by Walmart’s Advanced mobile store food buying increasing by 74%. (Bhati Anam, et al., 2020). E-commerce has also grown in popularity in the majority of developing nations, such as Nigeria and Pakistan. In Pakistan, sophisticated mobile stores have grown at a 10% daily pace (Bhati Anam, et al., 2020). Retail sales through E-Commerce demonstrate that Covid-19 has a large effect, with revenues anticipated to reach $6.5 trillion by 2023. (Jones, 2020). Companies who invest fearlessly in the Advanced mobile store area of their company have the potential to conquer the market and emerge as market leaders after the epidemic. For the majority of businesses, the moment has come to start their digital marketplace, click and collect universe.

According to (United Nations, 2020), a prominent retail contributor said in Forbes that although no one knows what the coronavirus will do next, there is much ambiguity about how people purchase. The pandemic’s consequence would cause merchants that have never fully built E-Commerce mobile store capabilities to rethink their strategy and launch a big push to bring their businesses online in working order (Skeldon, 2020) Retail sales through mobile apps increased 30% year over year in the first quarter of 2020 and 25% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2019 Pre-Covid. Globally, advanced mobile stores are pushing consumer changes to online purchasing, with customers spending 1.6 trillion hours on their mobile devices in 2020, resulting in two to four years of growth in E-Commerce mobile stores (Skeldon, 2020). According to the United Nations (2020), Covid-19 accelerated mobile use, and as the Christmas season approaches in 2021, firms who emphasize E-Commerce will outlive competition since it is a critical driver of revenue development.

According to (Oven & Hicintuka, 2020), advanced mobile store usage has increased by 25% overall, but businesses that use it must be willing to adapt to the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic by modifying their marketing format and business model to ensure customer satisfaction. Due to the epidemic, some Advanced mobile shop vendors have begun devising selling techniques (Oven & Hicintuka, 2020). While the epidemic has offered major economic opportunities, supply delays have been one of the challenges encountered during this time period, creating demand uncertainty (Denger, 2020). It is critical for businesses to optimize E-Commerce in order to provide their consumers with the best possible experience. It is critical to provide value to clients by providing timely and economical delivery options (Fleming, 2020). Additionally, this may be accomplished by monitoring their shipment and notifying them of its arrival through notifications and alerts. Additionally, the firms might increase client value by expanding their delivery options, such as free and cheap shipping. While it is difficult to anticipate the eventual conclusion of the Covid-19 Pandemic at the moment, it is clear that e-commerce can be utilized to provide consumers with a more pleasant experience despite the pandemonium.

1.3 Problem Statement on implementation of advanced mobile store

Covid-19 is still in use, although there is a dearth of study about it and its relationship to e-commerce. What is known so far is that it impacts the majority of businesses. According to a research by Frost & Sullivan (2020), the pandemic is not just a health catastrophe, but also a financial one. Numerous businesses are suffering tremendously as a result of the pandemic’s effect on China, since the majority of businesses do business via the country. Covid-19 is also certain to have ramifications for customers, although many merchants have divergent views on its effect. (2020, Oven & Hicintuka) According to a study of 304 E-Commerce shops, 32% said Covid-19 would harm their operations, while 30% believed it would help them. Additionally, this research emphasized the need of online businesses adapting to the present shift in the economic climate brought about by the epidemic. Numerous shops have shuttered their physical locations, most notably in Nigeria. The majority of them have Covid-19 statements published on their websites. Offline shops and customers are increasingly reliant on digital commerce tactics and technologies to do business and shop (Abdin, 2020).

Businesses have an excellent chance to capitalize on this relationship via E-Commerce, since customers are unwilling to venture outdoors and risk contracting the virus. Thus, digital tools are an excellent alternative for receiving orders, distributing them, and providing after-sales care.

As a result, a suitable E-commerce advanced mobile store would be created to aid in the receipt of online orders, online payment, and prompt delivery of the items purchased. This thesis’s application would meet this demand.

1.4 The Purpose and Objectives

The Objective

The purpose of this project is to create a mobile application that will allow clients to purchase supplies from their homes during the Covid-19 epidemic. This system would consist of three phases: online ordering, online invoicing and payment at the time of delivery, and lastly, home delivery. Payment may be done online, and when the customer places their purchase, the vendor shall deliver the things to the consumer within two hours of receiving it, and the order should not expire before it is delivered to the client. Each commodity is billed according to the vendor from whom it was obtained, and the system is not geographically constrained; the consumer only has to specify the area they are in. Commodities would be classified into four categories: groceries, vegetables and fruits, medicine, and health and body care. This approach may also be employed beyond the end of the epidemic.

The following goals have been established in order to accomplish the thesis’ stated objective. • Evaluate current literature on E-Commerce during Covid-19 • Conduct an analysis of Covid-19’s influence on E-Commerce
