ASSESSMENT OF NEWSPAPER READERSHIP OF FASHION PAGES AMONG UNILAG STUDENTS IN NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
This paper explores the impact of reading newspapers in the life of students of the University of Lagos, especially the fashion and style pages of the selected newspapers and why they were being read by students. The Survey research method was adopted for this study and 250 copies of questionnaires were distributed. The total number of questionnaires retrieved was 220, representing an 88 percent response rate.
According to the report, UNILAG students placed a high value on reading fashion stories and styles on the pages of the selected newspapers, Sunday Punch, Sunday Vanguard, and Sunday Sun. According to the findings of this study, fashion page(s) on newspapers are among the most read contents among students, as fashion is one of the most imitated acts in the world.
However, the researcher suggests that newspaper publishers and editors improve the content of their fashion page(s) in order to attract more readers to their publication.
