ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper was to assess rural development strategies in Enugu State’s Isi-uzo Local Government Area. To conduct the study efficiently, the researcher developed six (6) research questions and one (1) null hypothesis. The study’s population consists of 400 female and male members of Community Based Organisations in the Isi-uzo Local Government Area.
The questionnaire was the primary data gathering tool utilised in the investigation. The acquired data were analysed using simple percentages, weighted averages, and the T-test statistical tool.
The main results are that the goals of rural development include reducing inequality and illiteracy, providing basic utilities, and achieving full employment. Rural development initiatives carried out in the Isi-uzo Local Government Area include the construction of rural roads and culverts, the provision of agricultural activities, rural electrification, health clinics, and so on.
That rural development projects in Isi-uzo Local Government Area are initiated by the community, the government, and non-governmental organisations, among others. The government supports to rural development by providing utilities like as power, roads and culverts, health facilities, and water.
That rural residents employ a variety of techniques to carry out their projects, including community initiatives, non-directive strategies, direct strategies, and government intervention.
That the challenges to rural development in Isi-uzo Local Government include a lack of funds, illiteracy, power struggles/politics, and so on. Based on the findings, recommendations were provided, followed by proposals for future research.
