ABSTRACT

This report assessed rural development strategies in Isi-uzo Local Government Area, Enugu State. To conduct the study efficiently, the researcher developed six research questions and one null hypothesis. The survey includes 400 female and male Community Based Organisation members from Isi-uzo Local Government Area.

The study’s primary data collection tool was a questionnaire.

Data were analysed using simple percentages, weighted averages, and the T-test statistical tool. The main findings are that rural development aims to alleviate inequality and illiteracy, provide basic services, and promote full employment.

Isi-uzo Local Government Area focusses on rural development initiatives such as road and culvert construction, agricultural operations, electrification, and health centres. Rural development projects in Isi-uzo Local Government Area are initiated by several stakeholders, including the community, government, and non-governmental organisations.

The government promotes rural development by providing essential utilities such as power, roads, culverts, health facilities, and water. Rural dwellers employ many tactics to implement their initiatives, such as community efforts, non-directive strategies, direct strategies, and government intervention.

Rural development in Isi-uzo Local Government faces challenges such as funding shortages, illiteracy, power struggles, and politics. The study’s findings led to recommendations and ideas for future research.
