CASH MANAGEMENT IN MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN GHANA
Abstract
The burden of cash management has emerged as a hot concern in small enterprises. This research investigates survey findings on cash management procedures of 202 small business owners (SBOs) in Ghana’s Cape Coast Metropolitan Area to acquire information on current practice.
The study shows that the majority of the SBOs surveyed either do not comprehend the attributes or the necessity of cash management and, as a result, do not practice any formal cash management system. The primarily used informal cash management techniques were discovered to be vulnerable to cash fraud and other business growth challenges.
Some financial management issues have been identified, and measures to improve the situation have been proposed. In addition, the report advises that future research and policy directions explore gender disparities and attributes, as well as some industry idiosyncrasies, to the current fast growth in this significant business unit.
