CAUSES OF IMMORALITY AMONG STUDENTS
ABSTRACT
The goal of this research is to look into the reasons of immorality among students, using a case study of the College of Education in Ekiadolor-Benin, and the impact of these bad behaviours on students’ academic performance. In order to achieve the stated goal of this study, the researcher employed College of Education, Ekiadolor as a case study.
For the purpose of data collection, the researcher largely used questionnaires, which were administered and collected directly to the subjects. The responses were organised into tables, and percentages were calculated for easier study and interpretation.
Finally, the researcher presented her findings and listed a number of recommendations for improvement and suggestions for future research in this field, which include using youths as a subject matter and a questionnaire as a data collection tool to allow respondents to determine the validity and reliability of the responses and, as a result, possible tips for students in higher education and youths in general.

INTRODUCTION
HISTORY OF THE STUDY
Immorality among students is a serious issue in today’s culture. It has been very disturbing, and everyone is very concerned about it. Considering the speed with which it has spread and the damage it has brought to many of its addicts.
Students are the most common victims of the act, but it is most prevalent among tertiary students all across the world, both nationally and globally.
Immorality can be copied in a variety of ways, but before focusing on the various sorts of immorality, it is necessary to define the term immorality, i.e. immorality is typically used to characterise people or activities.
It can be used to groups or corporate bodies, beliefs, religions, and works of art in a larger sense; to state that an act is immoral is to say that it violates some moral laws, standards, or standard.
An immoral man is a sick man, one who is both physically and spiritually ill. He is physically healthy, but he is psychically and spiritually sick, and he suffers from interior disharmony. He has lost the path to inner harmony, peace of mind, happiness, and fulfilment.
Because the moral and immoral ways of life are diametrically opposed, it is obvious that both cannot lead to the same goal, just as two roads going in opposite directions cannot lead to the same goal or destination.
If the moral way of life, i.e. the way of honesty, integrity, altruism, self-less services, e. t. c., is the way that leads to internal harmony, peace of mind, happiness, and self-fulfillment, it is obvious to any right thinking person that the immoral way of life, i.e. the way of dishonesty, fraud, selfishness, corruption, embezzlement of public funds, e. t.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Immorality can be a group tendency, a societal circumstance, or an act of freedom. To do anything one wants. A person seeking happiness through immoral means–fraud, dishonesty, misappropriation of public funds, etc.–has taken the wrong path.
He will never be happy because he lacks the required condition (the sine qua non) for happiness, which is moral rectitude (philosopher Aristotle) the great statesman.
Immorality among students could be caused by:
Poor parental care or education.
Group of peers.
It’s something that everyone is doing.
There is a spiritual issue.
A psychological issue.
THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
Indeed, many educationists in other parts of the world, including Europe and America, have conducted extensive research on the subject. “Immorality,” but in Africa, particularly Nigeria, this field is clearly underutilised, despite the fact that the incidence of immorality of many kinds has been reported.
Many educational institutions of learning have observed that immorality (evil) is rampant among tertiary institution students. It is necessary to emphasise the callousness of this heinous behaviour among today’s kids.
To ascertain the source of immorality among today’s young.
Determine the impact of immoral behaviour and a reasonable solution.
To lessen the impact of this wickedness.
To serve as a guide in launching a significant campaign, to provide direction and counselling in enlightening adolescents (students) on the dangers of immoral living.
IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY
This investigation work will be of enormous value to the world’s youths and students who are already or are about to enter higher education institutions, as well as to the general public, in increasing their awareness of the effects of immoral living on both their psychical, spiritual, and social well-beings of all Christians, which may also lead to external suffering or regret.
The study will also raise people’s understanding of the consequences of this demonic act, which can lead to eternal misery.
It is consequently intended that youngsters in higher education will be encouraged to reason constructively, to stop or reconsider their activities, and to give their lives a chance of longevity on Earth and even life after death (everlasting happiness).
Based on this, the researcher seeks to draw conclusions and make appropriate and useful suggestions to aid in the decrease, and if possible, entire elimination, of immoral behaviours among students in higher education and society at general.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The study’s scope includes the causes of immorality among students, as well as a case study of Ekiadolor College of Education. Several factors posed challenges to the researcher during the course of the study. Finance, time, and sentimental beliefs of the group to be questioned are the most important considerations.
Finance, as a major issue in any project, also limits the procurement of materials such as paper for typing and duplicating reports, as well as transporting the researcher to and from Ekiadolor where the needed data for the study had to be collected.
Aside from these limitations, this research was conducted in conjunction with other academic work at the school, such as T. P. (teaching Practise).
Finally, they are all busy with their lectures because, for a long time, there have been prolonged strike actions by academic and non-academic staff due to non-payment of salary (College of Education, Ekiadolor).
Which was a case study for this research work, and most of the respondent could better be spoken to by understanding members of the department or school, before the student could receive questions. Some respondents were private and personal, saying that if anyone wants to know better, they should engage in immoral acts, but this thought and hostility were later reversed to cooperation.
RESEARCH QUESTION
In order to derive appropriate results from this study, the following research questions have been developed to guide the investigation.
Is there a link between poor parenting and immorality among students in higher education?
Is there any effect of peer group or peer pressure on the immoral behaviour of students in higher education?
Is there an impact of society on immorality among students in higher education?
Is there an impact of the educational sector on immoral behaviour among students in higher education?

Delinquency in Juveniles: This is a behaviour disorder, or inappropriate behaviour in society.

Unhappiness: A state of stress or annoyance caused by something that you do not like about a circumstance.
Implication: A potential future effect or result of an activity or choice.
Altruism is when you care about or aid others even if it is not in your best interests.
Fraudulence: An criminal attempt to deceive people in order to acquire money, power, etc.
Something that is diametrically opposed to something else.
Luxury: Extreme comfort and pleasure, as in expensive cuisine, gorgeous homes, cars, and so on.
A violation is an action that violates the law.
Sentimental: This refers to feelings rather than a specific reason.
