COMMUNICATION AS TOOL IN ENHANCING ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA

 

Abstract
Communication as a tool for improving organizational performance is the title of this project. The purpose of this study was to look into the communication methods used by the Nigerian Bottling Company and how effective they were. The researcher used both primary and secondary data to conduct this study.

The survey method was also used. Questionnaires and personal interviews were used as data collection tools. Data was analyzed in simple tables and percentages for clarity and understanding as chisquare (X2) was used as a statistical measuring instrument for the study.

The study’s findings provided precise information for determining the positive impact of communication on organizational performance. One of the recommendations made based on the findings was that managers of an organization should consider communication feedback as an effective tool for increasing an employee’s productivity.

 

INTRODUCTION

CHAPTER ONE

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Communication is an essential component of both human society and all living things. The survival and growth of society necessitate, among other things, a communication system. Communication, according to Albert Silversteined (1974), is the process that has allowed man to survive in his current form despite being uniquely unsuited to survive in any particular environment.

“Communication is the great relating tool,” writes Schramm (1971). It connects individuals to one another, allowing groups to function and societies to coexist peacefully.”
Communication can be defined as the process or act of exchanging information between two people. It is also the process of disseminating information to others. The process of communication is the process by which messages are formulated or amended and transmitted from the source or communication to a receiver or an audience via a channel or medium.

Communication within an organization, especially one with multiple issues, can be a difficult concept to master. When all parts of your organization communicate effectively, your workflow and overall productivity will improve. You can build a stronger company with market staying power by making an effort to improve your communication process.

Clear, open communication can foster a sense of transparency in your organization, which fosters trust among employees at all levels, as keeping employees in the dark can result in resentments, tension, and a sense of job insecurity.

They will feel more valued and trusted if they have open lines of communication. Open communication can reduce feelings of uncertainty and cluelessness about the company’s state, resulting in a more positive work environment and employees who feel secure and safe.

Communication is also essential for developing professional and social relationships between staff members and between levels of employees. One can only imagine what would happen in an organization if communication did not exist.

Employees would be unable to express their ideas; as a result, staff(s) would combine experience in developing innovative solutions. Communication keeps employees from feeling isolated, fosters teamwork, and fosters a more collegial atmosphere in the workplace.

Employees who have strong relationships are more likely to trust one another and collaborate more effectively. As a result, the study will investigate the contributions of effective communication to improving the organizational performance of Nigeria breweries 9th mile corner, Enugu.
