ABSTRACT
The role of the secretary is ever-changing, much like many others. This explained why secretarial work is constantly evolving, both in terms of content and method. More and more, employers are looking for secretaries who can communicate effectively in languages other than the secretary’s native French. Numerous governmental and commercial institutions have launched bilingual secretaryship programs to address this requirement. This study compared a lot of criteria, including the level of the curriculum, training performance issues, and future possibilities. In order to accomplish this, we compared relevant literature and employed empirical evidence. In order to conduct this study, the researcher used questionnaires. We were able to draw conclusions and provide recommendations based on the data we collected.
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The secretary is a vital cog in the wheel of varied daily tasks in the corporate and professional sectors. Contributions are multi-faceted and span the gamut from managing day-to-day operations to putting plans into action.
In any case, a secretary’s secretarial skills are a benefit, since they include not just typing and shorthand but also creating and responding incoming and outgoing messages, covering meetings and conferences, and filing. Secretaries interact with the public on a daily basis through their reception duties, which is a crucial part of their job.
More like information managers than coffee fetching machines, according to research, are today’s secretaries. An essential officer in every organisation, the secretary is tasked with a wide range of responsibilities and holds the esteemed title of secretary.
An organization’s productivity might be boosted or lowered depending on the secretary’s performance and contributions. Various types of secretaries exist.
Such include, for example, secretaries in the fields of medicine, law, personnel, and bilingualism. The study’s author relied on both multilingual and monolingual secretaries.
