COMPUTERIZING PIGGERY FARM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Introduction: The piggery farm is part of the livestock division at Nigeria Prison Agriculture Project State Command Enugu (NPAPSE). Agriculture is the science of farming. It is suitable for both animal and crop cultivation.
This research is based on a farm management information system case study of a piggery farm. Piggery farms are an example of animal farms that are used for animal production. A boar, sow / sows, puckers, and piglets at various stages must all exist before a piggery farm can be established.
Once again, the goal of this project is to computerise the farm management information system, which has previously been controlled manually.
The management information system in this organisation was primarily handled with a large deal of human work, and the activities of the organisation in this system are less challenging, less complex, and hence organisations are small in size.
Management information systems continue to provide information to management on a regular basis. This brings to mind the temporal value of information, which states that if the necessary knowledge is obtained beyond the period in which it will be needed, the information becomes useless. MIS strives to inform the manager about how to offer the information.
Management always aims to read the climax in decision performance in order to achieve organisational objectives, but the current system cannot attract such performance due to a lack of an effective information tool that can provide management with quality and needed information at the right time.
This method always produces more information than necessary, which reduces decision-making performance in any management. Information, they say, is power.
Quality information is highly important to check in an organisation. The only information that can improve management decision performance is high-quality information. Such properties of information include:
Relevance
Accuracy
Completeness
Reliability
Timeliness
Despite these characteristics, managers cannot fulfil its goals. The manager’s decision-making ability is also dependent on himself. The manager must be able to recognise, define, analyse, and propose a feasible solution to the problem. And for the manager to execute these things, he must have the necessary information.
Because of the defects and errors identified with the present management information system, an alternate system, a computerised system, is proposed.
The technology has generated exciting potential for all managers, and as the technology advances, researchers demand that the blowing wind reach farm managers (piggery farm managers) in their management information system. Software is being developed to replace the manual management process. This type of software is an expert system.
The computerised farm management information system is a software package that comprises a large number of files and records. The file that was built in detail is a sales file, and each of its records consists of files such as pig varieties, quantity, price, weight, subtotal, total amount, grand total, etc.
1.1 Background of the Study
Nigeria Prison Agriculture Project, State Command (NPAPSCE) began operations in Nigeria Prison State Command Enugu in 1980-1981, under the leadership of MRS MARIA EBUCHE. NPAPSCE began operations with about three types of animal sections: poultry and crop departments.
As Nigeria Prison State Command appears to be a world of its owner, the manager (DSP) did not relent at all; instead, he worked tirelessly to expand and introduce more creatures to the animal department.
