CONTRIBUTION OF MODERN COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT TO JOB EFFICIENCY OF THE SECRETARY
Chapter one
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The impact caused by new communication equipment on the economy, particularly on the job efficiency of the secretary, has to be researched.
With the introduction of sophisticated equipment, much has been accomplished. Without equipment, the secretary cannot effectively carry out her or his tasks. This necessitates the applicability of these tools to many organisations where the services of a secretary are needed.
In this study, we will explore the aforementioned issue as well as the challenges that secretaries may find when using these new communication devices. In recent years, many commercial organisations have transitioned from messenger systems to inter-office telephone extensions for speedy communication, from handwritten addresses to addressing machines, and with the introduction of computers, practically all office manual work has been decreased.
All of these machines are designed to eliminate secretary delays and improve job efficiency. If contemporary communication equipment was not available, the secretary would be unable to complete their job successfully. Communication is the process of reacting, conveying, and interpreting information, views, and feelings.
As the years pass, the globe witnesses remarkable changes and developments in all aspects of secretarial administration. Communication in organisations is typically done through several modes of communication, such as issuing orders, conducting interviews, charging meetings, and so forth.
It is usually believed that organisational management elements should be concerned with the system and environment in which communication occurs. Communication can be viewed as the basis upon which organisational and administrative structures must be created.
As a result, I will concentrate my efforts on home, as modern communication is growing increasingly sophisticated in terms of composition and equipment. Telephone, fax machine, tel, telex, inter-communication telephone system, conference telephone, computer, internet, and e-mail are among the items of equipment.
All of these ratio-computer communication messages are technologically innovative and support people’s natural working styles. The fundamental course in secretarial administration covers typewriting, shorthand, and office administration.
Before working as a secretary, he or she must complete the courses that will assist him or her in the manipulation of the equipment. In response to the growing and critical demand for well-trained secretaries, the government has made every effort to ensure that secretarial studies receive proper attention.
No wonder this course is given in both universities and polytechnics, and it has been doing its best to prepare specialists who will then train many people to work as secretaries in order to efficiently handle and run current communication equipment in offices. It accomplishes this by providing offices with high-quality modern communication equipment, including FBN.
