CULTURE AND WOMEN SUBJECTION

ABSTRACT

In a commercial airline corporation, airline reservation and ticketing is a project effort targeted at producing a syst flight by making bookings. As the globe becomes a global village, with practically every area of human endeavour becoming computerised, the airline industry’s management is looking forward to making their flight reservations available online.

This project research entails the design and implementation of an airline reservations system in order to overcome the unfavourable problem linked with the manual system. In this section, we will create a computer programme that will

Replace the current manual system.

__Make it possible for travellers to book flights.

The implementation of the computerised system in this project will be done with PHP-Mysql.

CHAPITRE ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction to the Research

Throughout the history of commercial aviation, the rapid movement of aircraft, people, and cargo has necessitated the even more timely transmission of information. This has never been more true than now, when information has evolved from an operational tool to a competitive weapon.

To capitalise on this information, the technology revolution and information society have provided us with a dizzying array of skills. They have, however, provided us with a confusing assortment of options for services, rates, techniques, and products.

Many managers are confronted with too much of a good thing, too many options. However, an airline today signifies business. In today’s world, commerce and tourism are the engines of economic progress. Airlines, airports, and even governments compete for travel-related revenue in the airline sector.

Staying ahead requires investments in improved customer service tools, increased management awareness, faster access to operational information, and so on.

With so many technological and service options available, as well as the requirement to make quick, well-informed decisions, many organisations are finding it increasingly difficult and costly to hire and keep people to fulfil the needs. The efficient usage of an airline information system can aid in the resolution of this issue.

A multi-database system for seat reservation and ticketing is a very sophisticated integrated computer-based system for managing an airline’s or aircraft fleet operator’s technical operations activities. The system can be utilised by large and small firms operating a variety of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft all over the world.

The created software will be used to collect, store, and analyse data about seat reservation and ticketing in the sector.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

As the aviation business grows, so do the number of airlines. The passengers must purchase their plane tickets. Going to their local offices to book their flight tickets is becoming outmoded and time-consuming. Passengers should be informed about flight schedules. As a result, a broad spectrum of publicity is required, as well as direct information transfer to the centres.

1.3 Aims and Objectives of the Research

We will always strive to deliver the highest usability, flexibility, and security to our users when designing an airline seat reservation system. As a result, we must create a user interface that is both versatile and clear. Furthermore, because the record updates are a database, we must

Consider security considerations so that retrieval of flight reservation information is not disrupted. The new system is intended to handle the following tasks:

Create a website where users may view all domestic flights.

Create an online system that allows customers to view domestic flight schedules and rates.

Allow for online flight reservations.

Give passengers online access to their operations.

Customers should be able to see information on flight maintenance.

Allow passengers to submit complaints about flight operations or services.

Customers can access an online news publication created by flight operators.

The number of flights conducted by an airline is made available.

Maintain a solid database for flight data management.

1.4 The Purpose of the Research

The primary goal is to create and execute an airline seat reservation system. This system will also contain a flight scheduling system and the ability to confirm flight tickets.

1.5 The Importance of the Research

Given the rapid development of computer technology in nearly all domains of operation and its application in relation to information management, it has become critical to investigate the development of a seat reservation system to satisfy the expectations of today’s society. As a result, reservation booking aids management in obtaining data on flight reservations at any moment.

The project’s goal is to provide a new and improved alternative system to assist the organisation in: –

(a) When necessary, produce operational reports.

(b) Keep data and information in the system secure.

(c) Workload reduction in the current system.

(d) Maintain an accurate record of flight reservations.

(e) Reduce the amount of time spent on data processing.

1.6 Purpose of the Research

This project will cover all aspects of flight reservations, ticket confirmation, and flight schedule information. Aero Airlines Nig Ltd is the case study for this project.

1.7 Limitations Of The Study

Much funding was necessary throughout the design of this work, and due to the global financial meltdown, the research was constrained by finance and so focussed on the available materials within the locality.

1.8 Factors To Consider

It is assumed that all of the information gathered is correct, and that the software was designed using the available data.

Terms are defined in Section 1.9.

FAAN stands for Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.

IATA stands for International Air Transport Association.

International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)

In computer science, a black box is a unit whose underlying structure is unknown but whose purpose is documented.

Black box testing entails the tester being given the specification of a component to be tested and using it to generate test cases. This has the advantage of not requiring the tester to know anything about the code used in the component or comprehend its internal structure.

This is also a negative because knowledge of the code might aid in the creation of tests that thoroughly exercise the programme.

Management Information System (MIS) is a system that saves and retrieves information and data, processes it, and presents it to management as information to be utilised in decision making.

MCS- Management Control System is a type of information system used by an organization’s management to analyse each application’s input, storage, processing, and output.

Databases: A systematically organised collection of computer data that is structured so that it may be retrieved or altered automatically. It is also known as a databank.
