DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED GOODS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

Introduction: Computers play an important role in business development, solving complicated problems and processing large amounts of data quickly.

The recent emphasis on information and data processing in most of our business and shipping industries has expanded dramatically, as in the case of super manifest shipping company Lagos, where an alternative technique must be mechanical data handling, goods preparing, manifest, and so on.

Super maritime shipping company is a company that handles the clearing and forwarding of goods, importation of goods, and the clearing of shipping documents and goods within the vessel before leaving the port for a designated warehouse as the company’s clients wish.

Computer technology has come to be accepted as an indispensable innovation in the shipping system. It is an all-purpose machine that accepts data as input and processes it using a set of information to produce an output that can be retrieved for later use.

And its revolution has been evident in shipping in order to eliminate the majority of the difficulties encountered in most air shipping industries, the need for computerization with the design and implementation of a computerised goods transportation management information system, and its benefits to the shipping industries are required.

1.1 Background of the Study

The project focuses on the design and implementation of a computerised goods transportation management information system. The study helps one understand the origin of goods transportation while also revealing certain flaws in goods management and solutions.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The goals and objectives of this research are to create and implement a computerised goods transportation management information system that will provide the following to ensure that customers receive fast and efficient services based on quick access to data and correct information. The branch of all routine labour that does not require quantitative consideration to be able to give letter counter services.

To be able to receive and provide up-to-date information important to the organisation and its clients.

To facilitate the administration of bills and the updating of customers’ manifests, fraud and other illegal acts are checked to ensure security and control.

Statement of the Problem

The management of goods/goods in Nigeria has over the years attracted poor patronage as a result of errors that loss of customers’ goods is now the order of the day, the reason are not for fetched due to the manual procedure involved

chat have no other option than to be at the mercy of this error prime procedures and the storage of information such as files and other important documents can easily be last, thereby attracting distrust of the firm by its client/customer as

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY.

The existing customs and exercise office system has some flaws, and it is against these flaws that this work was carried out. The study is also being conducted to produce a system that will address the loophole and cooperate with the customs at the lowest possible cost and within the limits of technology available, which was the driving force behind this project.

JUSTIFICATION

With the computerization of the shipping company, this bitting system will be sufficient and reliable; the establishment of the new system will create for a faster and efficient means of transacting business between the shipping company and their customers;

there will be a networked and direct of communication between shipping companies both in and outside the country; processes such as billing, daily report generation, customer registration will be formed with speed and effici

The information about the customer and his goods will be secure since it is contained in the computer, and there will be a case for storing and retrieving information to and from the computer.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY:
This investigation is limited to the whole activities of the customs and office departments.
