DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DIGITAL IMAGE CRYPTOSYSTEM WITH ADAPTIVE STEGANOGRAPHY

ABSTRACT
Steganography is the art and science of writing concealed messages in such a way that no one, but the sender and intended recipient, suspects their presence, providing security via obscurity. Steganography is derived from the Greek and literally means “covered writing”.

It is one of several data hiding strategies that seeks to deliver a message over a channel that is already carrying other types of information. This contrasts steganography from covert channel approaches, which instead attempt to convey data between previously disconnected elements.

Steganography is used to hide communications inside other “harmless” messages in such a way that no “enemy” can discover the presence of a second secret message. The only missing information for the “enemy” is a brief, easily exchangeable random number sequence.
