DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Chapter one

1.0 Introduction

An inventory control system contains a list of orders to be filled, prompts workers to select the appropriate supplies, and offers packaging and shipping information.

Inventory control can be utilised to automate the sales order fulfilment process as well as to manage hardware inflow and outflow. Automation is the replacement of human workers with technology.

For successful sales and inventory management, logistics facilities must have comprehensive functionality. Warehouse management functions for inventory control include internal warehouse movements and storage, as well as support for documenting and tracking items based on amount and value.

This application manages all supply orders, saving costs for warehousing and shipping while enhancing customer experience. It considerably increases inventory turns and optimises the flow of commodities.

It also enhances cash flow, visibility, and decision-making. It allows efficient execution of jobs utilising this quick and dependable computerised manner.

Background of Study: SunnyBenz Auto Nig. Ltd, an auto parts dealer founded in 2004, is located in block 11 shop R120, Gudu market, Abuja, Nigeria, near Diamond Bank. Abuja, FCT-Abuja, 112122 Nigeria.

It seeks to provide pleasant, comfortable, and sound vehicle parts to the Nigerian public by stocking a variety of automobile parts. It is second to none, thus demand is high, and the corporation responds to this by stabilising supply in order to establish a balance.

Justifiably, the corporation has the challenge of maintaining proper records of products transfers, and because this is done manually, associated issues of insecurity, high operational costs, and supply delays develop. SunnyBenz Auto Nig. Ltd now controls stock and inventory through data processing employing people, pens, and paper.

The design and development of an automated inventory control system for Sunny Benz Auto Nig. Ltd will undoubtedly provide significant respite from the issues connected with the manual system.

Statement of the Problem

SunnyBenz Auto Nig.S ltd primarily operates manually and faces numerous challenges, revealing a variety of issues.

Sales and monies received are recorded manually on a rough book. As a result, the books are susceptible to physical damage, information loss, and dust accumulation.

The control system is time consuming, inaccurate, and inefficient, and the atmosphere is not user-friendly.

Human mistake is a common source of inaccuracies.

The manual system is tiresome and can be decreased or removed with the implementation of the proposed solution.

Aim of the study

The goal of this project is to design and implement an automated inventory system for Sunnybenz Auto Nig. Limited.

The objectives of the study

The primary goal of this project is to design and implement an Autoshop inventory management system. Others include:

Calculate the bill.

Present the bill to the consumer.

Store the number of things sold.

Store products, prices, and other information.

Set the tax and commission rates for the products.

Can view the product report within a specific time frame.

Change the system’s graphical user interface.

It provides greater degree security because the system will be password protected to prevent unauthorised access.

But you can’t:

Calculate the employees’ pay.

Calculate the product’s expanses.

The significance of the study

This project aims to boost operational efficiency, reduce maintenance and running costs, monitor the supply of items and their distribution, and increase profit in Nigerian Breweries PLC by using an automated inventory control system.

Scope of the Project

The scope of this investigation includes the following:

Manage users and inventory of products.

Manage suppliers, make purchases, and generate reports.

Point of sale.

limitations of the project

The project was limited by the following factors:

(a) Financial constraints.

Given the country’s economic situation, it was difficult to make ends meet due to the high cost of travel for data collecting for the project.

(b) Time constraints.

Looking at the time between the last semester’s restart and vacation for the project to be completed, it appeared that there was insufficient time to collect the necessary information for better work to be done.

(c) Material is not available.

During this project, it was discovered that the necessary supplies for the project were not documented. Those that were documented lacked accessible storage facilities.

Definition of Basic Terms and Concepts

Automation is the use of technology or computers to control and process data, minimising the need for human intervention.

Database: This is a vast collection of connected data on a computer that a user may access and alter.
