DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONLINE DISASTER REPORT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Chapter One: General Introduction

1.0 Background of the Study

The online disaster report and management system is a web-based programme that helps organisations monitor, analyse, and save disaster-related information. The system uses current technology to standardise, organise, and manage data related to fire disasters.

In this century, most fire stations, including our case study, do not have a computerised system for recording information and instead rely on manual processes. This project intends to improve access to data during and after disasters, which can be challenging due to manual record-keeping and modifications.

Fire disasters have been a major issue in recent decades, coinciding with the growth of settlements and human civilization. To ensure efficacy and efficiency in their actions, fire service stations, particularly those in Sokoto state, should embrace and appropriately utilise current computer technology (9).

1.1 Statement of the Problem

Numerous issues hinder timely and efficient fire service delivery and safety management. The traditional method of preparing and managing disaster reports has several drawbacks, including limited accessibility, time-consuming and costly production, difficulty retrieving records, and ineffective manual record keeping.

1.2 Aim and Objectives of the Study

The study aims to build and implement a web-based application for the Sokoto State Fire Service.

The project aims to build and deploy a web-based system that allows users to easily obtain reports whenever needed.

– Design and build a web-based solution for document security. – Reduce paperwork and create a database to keep work organised.

 Provide timely and quality reports to management for decision-making.

 Monitor and report on the present state of the environment.

1.3 Significance of the Study

This research helps Sokoto state fire service agents report on fire disasters in the metropolis. This will allow them to access their fire service report. This will let the fire department monitor and report on the present state of the environment. This allows users to easily access their records from any location for reports.

Additionally, it improves document security, reduces paperwork, and ensures job integrity.

1.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY.

This research focuses solely on designing an online disaster report management system for the Sokoto State Fire Service.

1.5 Limitations of the Study

This study is limited to the body indicated above. The system cannot give charts or statistical reports on any incidents.
2. It cannot provide any services other than firefighting.

3. The entire system is limited to the Sokoto State Fire Service.

4. The system is purely web-based.
