INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The building industry contributes significantly to the country’s economic development. The construction sector is influenced by a variety of elements, including labour, materials, equipment, and construction processes. Human resources are the most important of these components because they enable other resources to be utilised or turned into productive use.
Any increase in labour productivity would provide a significant contribution to overall productivity development, as indicated by Hashim (1995). Motivation is broadly defined as a set of powers and mechanisms that help to direct human behaviour in a desired direction, or, in a more specific context, as all convincing and encouraging actions that help workers complete their tasks willingly and get closer to project objectives.
Employee motivation is critical since the quality of human performance at work is heavily influenced by motivation. That is, more motivation leads to higher output, as suggested by Kazaz et al (2008).
Most studies believe there is a favourable association between motivation and production. This means that when motivation improves, so will productivity. This represents the concept that increased motivation leads to an increase in productivity.
Achieving the results necessitates that adequate quality inputs be provided in the first place, and increased construction labour productivity means a better input, which will assist contractors in being more competent and reliable while carrying out their jobs.
