Effect Of Doctor-Nurse Relationship On Patient Care

Department of Nursing

ABSTRACT

This study will look at how the doctor-nurse interaction affects patient treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, Imo State. The null hypotheses were developed to guide the study. They are medical teamwork, hospital administrative structure, and a value orientation towards doctors and nurses.

To generate data for evaluating these assumptions, the researcher created a 42-item questionnaire, which was then validated by the supervisor. A survey study design was used, with data collected from 200 randomly selected respondents (male and female).

Purposive, stratified, and simple random sampling strategies were used at different stages of the investigation. The generated data was statistically tested with the chi-square analysis process.

The study discovered that there is a substantial association between medical teamwork and patient care, hospital administrative structure, doctor-nurse value orientation, and patient care.

However, it was suggested that collaborative working relationships between doctors and nurses be encouraged in order to create a successful health-care delivery system.
