EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF TWO NATURAL WOOD SEASONING MEDIA

ABSTRACT
Wood’s adaptability stems from its moisture content, which determines how well it performs in service. This performance is the consequence of the drying process for the wood species.

Wood can be dried naturally or artificially, but the natural approach requires less skill and expenditure to get the desired results. This study aimed to improve the natural process of wood drying in order to reduce wood drying costs.

Some wood species were chosen and employed for this project, and the results collected at the end of the experiment are reported in this report.

Wood transfers moisture with air; the volume and direction of the exchange (gain or loss) are determined by the air’s relative humidity and temperature

as well as the amount of water in the wood. This moisture relationship has a significant impact on wood characteristics and performance.

This report explored the physical attributes that are most relevant to the utilisation of wood products. Some of the physical attributes listed are influenced by species as well as variables such as moisture content, while others are species-independent.
