ABSTRACT
Research conducted at Nigeria Agip Oil Company in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, examined the impact of secretaries’ lack of communication skills on their productivity on the job. For this study, the population consisted of forty (40) secretaries and managers. This led to the formulation of four research questions and the subsequent distribution and subsequent retrieval of questionnaires from respondents. An examination of the impact of inadequate communication skills was demonstrated in a table that was generated from the study of the questionnaire copies. The most important thing that came out of it was that secretaries can’t do their jobs well without good communication, and that management can’t assess performance and establish goals if it’s not well implemented. Additionally, it looked at how the organization’s performance is impacted by communication abilities, communication style, and communication. In conclusion, there are positive and bad effects that might accrue to an organisation depending on its communication approach, IT, medium, and channel. Organisations should train their secretaries or update their communication system to match the current standard by studying and examining how their method and system of communication affects their performance.
