EFFECT OF WORK-LIFE BALANCING ON EMPLOYEES TURN OVER (A CASE STUDY OF GT BANK, NIGERIA)
Figures and abstract
Work-life balance (WLB) research has become essential for any organization in order to improve performance efficiency, particularly in the sector concerned. The purpose of this empirical study is to investigate the impact of work-life balance on the performance of money deposit banks in Nigeria’s south-south region.
The study investigates alternative work arrangements and managerial support as dimensions of work like balance (the predicting variable), and performance as a criterion variable used for goal attainment as a measure in a review of literature. As a population size, 2562 employees from 12 banks spread across six states were used.
The 485 sample size for the study was determined using the Cochran sample size determination statistical technique. The Statistical Package for Social Science was used to collect data, which was then analyzed using Simple Linear Regression and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (SPSS 17.0 windows).
Work life balance has a significant effect on the performance of money deposit banks, as alternative work arrangements such as compressed work weeks, telecommuting, flexi time, job sharing, and managerial supports predict employee goal attainment. Based on the findings, the study recommends that management adopt and implement alternative work arrangements with caution in order to attract and retain qualified employees and increase productivity.
