Construction delays have grown widespread in Nigeria. It is critical to raise understanding of the extent to which delays can harm project delivery.
This research detects, evaluates, and estimates the effects of construction delays using a questionnaire and an empirical method. The data revealed that time and expense overruns were common consequences of delays.
Delays had a significant impact on the completion cost and time of 61 building projects assessed. Client-related delays are significant in Nigeria. Acceleration of site activities, combined with enhanced client project management procedures and the inclusion of an appropriate contingency allowance in the precontract estimate, should mitigate the negative impact of construction delays.
