ABSTRACT
Males were asked to count, identify, and describe the microorganisms on their used handkerchiefs. Forty (40) handkerchiefs were gathered from male students in the University of Benin’s Faculty of Pharmacy, spanning several levels. To count, identify, and recover the bacteria present, the handkerchiefs were soaked in sterile water and the specimen (bacteria) was cultivated on nutrient agar, blood agar, and MacConkey agar. Three cultures produced no growth, while 37 cultures produced countable growths for enumeration. The beneficial growth was recognised and described through the use of well-established procedures. Nine cultures produced Staphylococcus epidermidis, eight cultures produced Staphylococcus aureus, three cultures produced Staphylococcus saprophyticus, and one out of forty (40) cultures produced Serratia species. Sixteen cultures produced Streptococcal species. All things considered, the bacteria exhibited varying growths in various media and responses to various biochemical tests.
