Evaluating The Impact Of Solid Waste Disposal In Yenagoa And The Introduction Of Modern Waste Management Technology In Nigeria

INTRODUCTION

The human species inhabits a dual reality. The first is the original natural world of plants, animals, and water bodies, which predates human existence by billions of years, spanning the Precambrian, Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic Eras and continuing to the present. Management Technology

The second is the world of social institutions and products that we construct for ourselves through science, technology, and political organisation. These two worlds are crucial to our lives, but skilfully balancing them has resulted in long-lasting stress.

The early human inhabitants of the earth had very limited ability to change their surroundings, but now we have enormous ability to extract and consume resources, produce waste, and modify our world in ways that endanger our survival as humans and that of other organisms that share the planet with us.

To maintain a healthy environment for ourselves and a sustainable future for future generations, we must first understand how the dual world operates and what we can do to safeguard and develop society.

SOCIETY

The world we live in today is made up of people who have various societal beliefs. The term society is unclear, hence it lacks a clear meaning and connotation (Ingiabuna, 2004:18).

According to Marshall (1996), a society is a group of people who share a shared culture, occupy a common territorial region, and believe they form a cohesive and distant entity.

In sociology, the term society refers to a collection of people who are bound by a complex system of interaction standards. It is considered as a series of social interactions (Shah, 2013:21).

A connection is social when it is based on mutual awareness, meaning that one person’s behaviour influences the behaviour of another (Merton, 1938).

Humans have created and lived in a variety of communities distinguished by uneven access to resources, status, knowledge, and invention. These societies can be divided into three categories: pre-industrial, industrial, and post-industrial societies. Management Technology

ENVIRONMENT

The word “environment” comes from the French word “environner,” which means “to encircle or surround.” According to Webster (2015), the environment is the situations and factors that affect someone’s or something’s growth, health, progress, and so on.

These are the very things we depend on on a daily basis, e.g., water, food, market, industries, air, plants, and animals, etc. The environment is a complexly intertwined system of ecology in which a simple or significant change in one component can emphatically or continuously affect other parts.
