IMPACT OF INFECTIOUS EPIDEMIC ON THE SMOOTH OPERATION OF MICROFINANCE BANKS IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of an infectious pandemic on the smooth running of microfinance banks, using coronavirus illness as a case study. The goals of this study were to evaluate the prevalence of coronavirus sickness in Nigeria and the influence of coronavirus disease on microfinance bank transactions in Nigeria.

The study’s focus is on Nigerian farmers, and the infectious disease transmission mechanism theory serves as a framework. The research design for this study is a survey, and the population addressed is all microfinance banks in the country. The sample size was set at 20 microfinance banks, and the cluster sampling technique was used.

This study’s instrument is a questionnaire. Data were acquired from original sources. According to the data analysis, the level of coronavirus sickness in Nigeria is average when compared to other nations, and coronavirus disease has an impact on microfinance bank transactions in Nigeria.

Following the findings, it was recommended that measures be devised to slow the spread of the virus and a vaccine be developed to prevent further reliance on the smooth operations of microfinance banks,

and that institutions involved devise a way to continue operations through the use of online channels. The study concludes that coronavirus illness has a negative impact on microfinance bank operations.
