ABSTRACT

This study experimentally investigated the impact of training and development on worker productivity at the Nestle Agbara facility in Ogun state. The goal is to evaluate the impact of workforce training on productivity at the Nestle Agbara factory and propose solutions to such difficulties.

The goals of this research were to investigate the influence of training and development on personnel at the Nestle Agbara factory in Ogun state, as well as the impact of trained manpower on productivity in the same facility.

The topic of the study is the Nestle Agbara factory in 2019, which employs both senior and junior staff members. System theory was employed as a framework.

The research strategy employed is a survey, and the population size for this study is all of the Nestle Agbara manufacturing employees, which totals 2201 workers. 338 workers were chosen as the sample size, and the cluster sampling technique was used. A questionnaire was utilised to collect data. Data was gathered from original sources.

The data analysis reveals that manpower development programmes effect manpower in Nestle Nigeria PLC, and trained manpower affects productivity in Nestle Nigeria PLC. Following the findings, it was advised that Nestle Nigeria PLC’s management implement an effective training and development strategy.

The purpose of training is to provide employees with the skills and techniques required for the specific job in the organisation. Employees should be appropriately trained for the appropriate position.

This would considerably improve the company’s efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring full capacity utilisation. The study suggests that workers can only perform effectively if they are given the necessary training and equipment.

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background for the Study

Manpower refers to the entire number of available workers in an organisation. Manpower plays a critical part in the long-term success of any organisation or enterprise.

Manpower is the foundation of all resources used, and it is the indispensable means of converting other resources to mankind’s use and benefits, so how well we develop and employ human resource skills is fundamental in deciding how much will be accomplished as an organisation and a nation as a whole;

manpower development and utilisation is of utmost importance to any sector, as it deals with how best to keep employees comfortable in their jobs, up-to-date, resourceful, and The preceding is critical considering the nature of human existence in modern times (Ajieh, 2014).

Manpower development is a process of intellectual and emotional achievement that provides opportunities for people to progress in their work. There is no doubt that in this advanced age of development and technical advancement, manpower must be trained to match the demands of modern technology. Trained and well-developed workers are critical to the productivity and efficacy of the Nestle Agbara factory in Ogun state.

In recent years, manpower training and development has been the foundation of many organisations. Adebayo (2016) defines training as an organization’s efforts to provide its employees with the skills and information they need to do their jobs effectively.

According to Ojohwoh (2011), manpower is an essential component of any enterprise, whether it be industrial, commercial, or educational. According to Onah (2014), the most successful organisations distinguish themselves by how they manage human resources.

Many organisations in Nigeria have suffered from deficiencies in their operations and general performance as a result of the sort or grade of staff they have, and the Nestle Agbara factory is no exception.

Nestle Agbara Factory is a publicly traded food and beverage specialist company. To carry out its role efficiently, it requires well-trained, developed, professional, dynamic personnel and advanced equipment.

 

1.2. Statement of the Research Problem

Human resources (manpower) are regarded as the most important aspect of any organization’s survival, along with an adequate supply of material and financial resources that are used to achieve the intended goals. This is especially true at Nestle’s Agbara facility in Nigeria.

Most organisations rigorously plan their investments in physical and capital resources; the few that do not do so casually. As a result, manpower’s ability to cope has steadily declined.

The availability of skilled workers at Nestle’s Agbara production is critical to achieving and maintaining a competitive edge. Their performance is critical to the company’s success.

Against this backdrop, the researcher investigated the impact of training and development on worker productivity at the Nestle Agbara facility in Ogun state.

 

1.3. Objectives Of the Study

The purpose of this study was to analyse the influence of training and development on worker productivity at the Nestle Agbara facility in Ogun state. Specific aims are to:

Examine the impact of training and development on manpower at the Nestle Agbara factory in Ogun state.

Examine the influence of trained labour on productivity at the Nestle Agbara facility in Ogun state.
