IMPORTANCE OF IMPROVING AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION THROUGH CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES.
ABSTRACT
Agriculture is the study or practice of cultivating land, raising or breeding animals for food, and promoting the country’s economy.
The relevance of enhancing agricultural productivity through cooperative societies, particularly in Anambra State, is that it provides a source of food and money for both humans and animals. It also provides raw materials for agricultural industries, which aids in the development of production facilities.
A cooperative society is a group of individuals who work together to achieve common goals and objectives. They paired together in Anambra State to farm and supply food to the public, as well as to support themselves and their families.
Chapter one
1.0 Introduction
The majority of people in Anambra State make a living from agriculture, and their primary occupation is subsistence farming, which has piqued the interest of numerous old and new cooperative societies.
Their main goal was to improve agricultural productivity while also increasing its size and quality. The majority of the crop did not grow well enough to produce as predicted. Several products were damaged, including yam tubers, cocoa yam, vegetables, and cassava stems and tubers.
In the 1960s, Anambra State’s economy was primarily dependent on agriculture as a source of income and employment. Then we shifted from a dependence on agriculture to a greater reliance on trade and white collar occupations.
