ABSTRACT
The ability of secretaries to effectively interact with clients and coworkers is the primary subject of this research. The study included a review of relevant literature. A total of 105 questionnaires were prepared and distributed to bosses, secretaries, and customers at chosen businesses in Enugu Urban. The collected data was analysed. It was determined that for the secretary to be successful in her role, she needs to have or at least be familiar with certain personal traits that set her apart from her coworkers. According to the statistics, in order to keep up with the latest trends in the corporate sector, secretaries need technical abilities including public relations, machine operation, shorthand, and typing. In addition, the importance of interpersonal and human relations abilities was deemed high by managers, secretaries, and customers alike. Recommendations were formulated in light of the results and subsequent discussion.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 The Background of the Study
The field of human relations is a management technique that focusses on how people are integrated into a work face. Interactional systems theory is the study and practice of understanding human behaviour in the context of certain industries.
During the early 18th-century stages of the industrial revolution, when industries were centred around land, labour, capital, and entrepreneurs to serve community interests, human relations emerged. Prior to the concept of human relations, the aims and purposes of companies and organisations shifted to relationships.
In order to help workers escape the depersonalised or dehydrated work environment, Elthen Mayo (1927–1932) organised a group of studies that established human relations in industries.
This would motivate workers, ensure cooperation, and maximise production so that they could survive in the ever-changing business world. Accordingly, human interactions are ranked by the neoclassics as the fifth most important production factors.
The secretary contributes to the accomplishment of the aforementioned objective by virtue of her training, which enables her to perform duties that promote unity among individuals and establish a positive reputation for the organisation.
Despite having the requisite technical skills in their respective occupations, some employers have been unsuccessful due to their negative attitudes and a lack of interpersonal and human relations abilities, according to experience.
