LARGE SCALE PRODUCTION OF RICE AND BEANS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH.

Chapter one

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

Agriculture is a key component of the Nigerian economy, employing 70% of the population. Commercialization is transforming the industry at the local, medium, and large scale production levels, including main crops such as beans and rice.

big-scale rice and bean production refers to the production of rice and beans in big quantities, which includes everything from land or ground cultivation and seedling planting to harvesting, storage, and delivery to the large final customer.

Rice is a household dish made from wheat. It is used for special meals such as Zn celebrations. In Africa, no matter how little or large the celebration, there must be some type of cooked rice, as rice included carbohydrate and starchy nutrients.

Beans are a common word for big plant seeds used for human food or animal feed in several general families that provide protein to the body and are utilised in a variety of food processes.

The large-scale cultivation of beans and grains has resulted in significant economic growth in Kogi state.

First and foremost, the production of beans and rice has been able to provide employment in the state of Kogi, where one sees unemployed graduates and other uneducated people working in rice and bean production, because at every stage of its germination

a labour force or human intervention is required to make the growth of beans and rice stable and healthy, such as labour force needed for cultivation and harvesting, transportation and storage.

It increases employment, it increases Nigeria’s GDP, it reduces the state’s reliance on the federal government, it increases the state’s domestic income, and it assists the government in providing basic and essential amenities and facilities to the state’s residents.

Large-scale rice and bean production has boosted Kogi state’s economic growth, resulting in a higher standard of living and less purchasing power for food. The low cost of living in Kogi state is due to the vast scale of rice and bean production, which makes life easier for the state’s residents.

Kogi state has become an international trading state where international companies come and establish subsidiaries with the goal of making products out of large-scale rice and bean production, as well as exporting these products to foreign countries with an interest in rice and beans, bringing foreign currencies to the state of Kogi.

1.2 Statement of Research Problems

Problem definition is the most significant aspect of a research, and a statement of problem verse elaborates on the information conveyed in the research title.

One of the most significant hurdles to large-scale rice and bean production, as well as its economic growth impact, is the growing occurrence of a shortage of funding.

It has recently caused major problems for agriculture in Nigeria; a proper account of agriculture has been lacking, resulting in the failure of a large number of farm industries in Nigeria.

With the frequent cause of lack of proper account of the agricultural industry or lack of proper production of rice and beans on a large scale in the agricultural industry today, one would begin to ask questions; thus, the questions that prompted the researchers’ inquisitive mind to carry out this study are as follows:

i) How do rice and bean production contribute to the state’s development?

ii) What are the techniques for rice production in Nigeria?

iii) How does the agriculture department or sector contribute to the state’s growth?

iv) What challenges do rice producers face?

v) Is the agricultural sector effective?

1.3 Objective of the Study

The study is important or undertaken to shed more information on the importance of agriculture to a country or state, particularly large-scale rice and bean production and agricultural difficulties.

The study’s goal is to guide the researcher through the study and knowledge of modern rice and bean theory or agriculture theory and practice, as well as to investigate the disparity and relationship between a farmer’s job in the agriculture industry and other industries.

The study aims to analyse and highlight the relative relevance of accounting in the agricultural industry. The study also aims to analyse the sources of difficulties faced in agricultural accounting and their impact in Nigeria, as well as to offer potential solutions.

1.4 Significance of the Study

The study is important for states with an effective agriculture sector or division because it allows them to understand the importance of agriculture in the state or country of Nigeria.

This allows them to recognise the extent of operations and places where problems exist, as well as make efforts to resolve the issues. The research could be even more important. This can also be used to provide information to the following people.

– The government

– The students

– Business Community

– The researchers

– The investors

– The managers

1.5 Scope of Study

In investigating rice production in the agricultural industry, the emphasis was on large-scale rice and bean production. The data collected and used for this research spans the years 2000 to 2001.

1.6 Limitations of the Study

The study was conducted under a number of constraints. The time provided was insufficient to do in-depth research, thus the researchers attempted to focus on areas that were deemed critical.
