INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study:

According to Taylor (1988:3), much of the world’s industries still believe in the credo of a famous American writer of the last century named R.W Emerson, who said, “If a man makes a better mouse trip than his neighbour,

though he build his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.” He truly believed that if the product was good enough, you wouldn’t have to sell it; the public would come to you.

All wonderful products, but they all lack the fundamental ingredients of high-quality service. You must convince the world that your product is good enough to meet their demands.

Again, Taylor (1988:3) believed that the route to bankruptcy court is paved with excellent intentions from operational managers who are not supported by adequate professionals in marketing.

This is to suggest that if the operational managers are not effectively supported by exports in the sphere of marketing services.

Bankruptcies can and do occur, including in catering establishments. As a result, it stands to reason that you need not only understand how to manufacture the product well, but also how to promote it effectively.

However, as you will have noted, there is a difference between sharing pleasantries with a guest and persuading him or her to spend a large sum of money on your occasionally mediocre product. And every product is periodically lacking in some aspect.

If you could obtain an honest answer, a good proportion of caterers would say they don’t do the job for fun.

To be fair to them, catering is not easy; you can master the techniques, but you will need to put in a lot of effort. Now, why would you bother doing that? There are only so many hours in a day, and everyone knows how hard you work already.

If you are a student, you may believe that others are better suited to offer their services based on their personalities. You could be correct, but marketers are created, not born. Excellent marketers come from a variety of backgrounds, including men and women, introverts and extraverts, black and white.

I’ve never seen a foolish person develop a decent market, though. It requires a reasonable 1a, the ability to think. Excuses for not mastering sales promotion strategies in catering services can take many forms.

A lack of time, a dismissal of the subject’s importance, and a more pressing duty that requires your attention. However, many people are secretly afraid of marketing. Horrid When people think about the subject, vivid images come to mind.

“What will I say?” “Suppose he throws me out,” “Suppose I am unable to answer his question”?What will I tell my city buddies that I do for a living? Problems: As a nation of shopkeepers, we appear to have lost our way.

To be honest, these views cannot be wholly criticised. To the novice, living with a tough customer may appear to be a plausible scenario. Also, while marketing may be respectable, it is not the same as hiring a brain surgeon.

Previously, marketing of these types of services was left to the hardworking sellers, but in recent years, it has become clear that every member of management must understand how to market.

If you don’t, you’ll fall behind competitors, who will have less money for renovation and wage increases due to lower profits. If you ever become the outfit’s manager, your chances of promotion will be slim, and the true church will appear.

Then you will undoubtedly discover that you are rated based on your profit-driven marketing strategy. Now, profit can be produced in two ways: (a) reducing costs and

(b) Maximising turnover.
