ABSTRACT
Object tracking in video is the most important issue nowadays due to its processing complexity and accuracy levels. The main causes of object tracking problems are irregular object motion, changes in object appearance, and non-rigid structures of objects in frames. The main factors to consider for accuracy improvements are changes in camera pose and partial and full occlusions.
Moving object tracking in video is a hot topic these days. While focusing on accuracy requirements, color characteristics and changes with respect to object and background must be considered. When tracking non-rigid objects, a specific strategy must be followed to improve tracking performance.
This paper discusses the various tracking methods that use color features as well as other possible techniques. The survey results will be useful in developing a method for tracking objects in video based on their color characteristics.
INTRODUCTION
Object tracking is a critical task in the computer vision domain. With the advent of powerful computers, there has been a tremendous increase in interest in object tracking algorithms for the purpose of automated analysis of high definition cameras.
Moving target detection, consecutive frame sequence based tracking of the target, and analysis of variations in motion and behavior in the tracking region are the three primary steps in video analysis. Color has been widely used in real-time tracking systems. Simplicity of computation, dependability in partial occlusion, variations in rotation, scale, and resolution are geometric cues that show a number of significant advantages.
Though efficient color constancy is one of the most important factors influencing accuracy performance,
The literature review is conducted with this basic idea in mind, and various algorithms developed thus far for object feature extraction and their respective tracking performances are discussed.
