Abstract:
This study’s objective was to determine whether or not there is a connection between strategic planning and the level of organizational effectiveness in a number of companies that are located in the Port Harcourt area.
The research design that was utilized for the study was one that was considered to be quasi-experimental. The proposed hypothesis was tested with the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient at a significance level of 0.05 using a population of 112 employees, including managers of different categories in the selected organizations.
The population was used to test the hypothesis using the suggested population. The population consisted of persons who were employed by the various organizations that were chosen. According to the findings, strategic planning has a constructive and significant impact not only on the mission and vision of an organization but also on employee participation and both the internal and external orientation of the organization.
This was shown by the fact that strategic planning has an effect on both inward and outward orientation. [Case in point] On the other hand, the research was unable to establish any kind of link between strategic planning and the effectiveness of companies.
It was suggested, among other things, that organizations should be purposeful and productivity-focused in their strategic planning activities and adopt multidimensionality of organizational effectiveness rather than relying on financial indicators for performance measurement.
This would be in addition to the fact that organizations should adopt multidimensionality of organizational effectiveness. This was done based on the findings that were conducted and the conclusions that were drawn from those.
In addition, companies should incorporate flexibility into their planning in order to lessen the impact of policy shifts brought on by an unpredictable and ever-changing commercial environment. This will allow the companies to remain competitive in the face of a variety of market conditions.
