Perception Of Students On Pre-Marital Sexual Relationship Among Tertiary Students
ABSTRACT
This study focusses on the perception of premarital sex among students in higher education. The obstacles of sex before marriage have sparked concern due to the various social problems they cause. Understanding is that sex before marriage carries its own risks and, if not handled appropriately, can lead to other social issues.
To meet the research’s stated objectives, data were collected using the questionnaire as a method. To provide clarity, the data were analysed using the Likert scale approach.
According to research findings, sex before marriage has reached frightening proportions among students, and it is now part of students’ social lives, thus they perceive nothing wrong with it.
As a result, it was recommended that children receive early sex education, that regular campaigns and public awareness on sex before marriage be conducted, and that parents, governments, and the general public take responsibility for bringing their own quota to education and the reduction of sex before marriage.
