REDUCING UNEMPLOYMENT THROUGH CO-OPERATIVE MOVEMENT.
This study looked at how cooperative movements have helped to reduce unemployment in the Enugu North Local Government Area. This study covers the years 2012 to 2015. During the course of this study, research objectives and hypotheses were developed, and primary and secondary data were collected and presented in tabular form.
The study found that staff at the sample cooperative have average qualifications for their positions and receive possibilities for further training from the cooperative society.
– Cooperative employees earn an average salary with required allowances. – Cooperative societies assist around 35% of school-leavers in becoming self-employed. There is constant education for both members and the general public.
The researcher’s recommendations include the following:
– Government should mandate cooperatives for all businesses. – More cooperative banks should be established to provide loans to people and groups interested in starting their own cooperatives.
– In conclusion, the research determined that every hand must be on the desk to support the development of cooperative firms, as it is now clear that the only alternative left for us is to adopt a social economic model of mutual self-help.
