ABSTRACT

The known elements of Nigeria’s current socioeconomic status are the high cost of living, low per capita income, and deterioration of social infrastructure and welfare.

This trend, induced by haphazard and incompetent management of the national economy, has existed since the independence. Previous government efforts to address this issue were unsuccessful.

As a result, there is an increasing need for corporate organisations in the Nigerian environment to assist and support the government in meeting some of its social commitments.
