ABSTRACT
This study focused on “the role expectations and performance of laboratory assistants in secondary schools in Enugu urban of Enugu State.” The study included five research questions. This study’s population consists of all secondary school instructors from the 25 secondary schools in Enugu’s urban area. The study included thirteen (13) randomly selected schools. The researchers created questionnaires, which were then distributed to respondents. The data collected was analysed using the mean. The sampling technique utilised in this study was random sampling, and the total sample size was 13. It was discovered, among other things, that there is a lack of understanding of the functions that scientific laboratory assistants play in secondary schools. The researchers advised, among other things, that the State Post Primary School Management Board not employ anyone who has not had proper training in science laboratory technology as a laboratory assistant in the school system. There were also recommendations for future study.
