ABSTRACT

The primary goal of this research on the function of consumer cooperatives in their economic growth is to demonstrate the role of consumer cooperatives as a factor in the study of Nigerian economic development.

It has been established that cooperatives play such an important role in economic development that they have served as a catalyst for our country’s economic advancement.

It was also revealed that consumer cooperatives, like any other business organisation, try to meet the demands of their members. Although consumer cooperatives have had a significant impact on Nigeria’s economic development, there are several obstacles that prevent them from operating smoothly. Thus, in chapter five of this paper, the researcher proposed various solutions to these challenges.
