TELECONFERENCE SYSTEM

CHAPTER ONE: Background

The advancement of computer and electronics technology has led to several breakthroughs that improve human activities.
Video messaging is a significant advancement in technology.

The information was packaged and transferred remotely from the source to targeted recipients. However, this was rarely a real-time occurrence. Obtaining live coverage of an event can be costly and difficult for consumers to afford.

The internet enabled inventors to create cost-effective and real-time video communication systems. Various equipment have been created to achieve this goal. Teleconferences are a result of advancements in technology.

The word ‘tele’ denotes distance. ‘Conference’ refers to consultations and talks. Teleconferencing connects distant sites, allowing for both visual and auditory communication. Distant sites can communicate with one other and the teaching end by phone, fax, and email. The interactions

This occurs in real time. This means that learners and resource persons can communicate while present in separate locations. Questions can be faxed or e-mailed to resource individuals for prompt response.

According to Matthew Lombard and Theresa Ditton, conferences create the illusion of a non-mediated experience. Nowadays, there is a focus on the impact of computer-mediated or computer-generated environments on individuals.

The concept of presence draws on various domains, including communication, computer science, psychology, physics, engineering, philosophy, and the arts. Today’s computer applications and Web-based entertainment rely on the concept of presence to create a sense of “being there,” as Sheridan described.

Teleconferencing is a valuable tool for bridging geographical distances between enterprises. However, only large companies can afford it. Therefore, I built this project to address this issue.

Limit the tendency of allowing smaller enterprises to purchase and use it.

1.2 Aims and Objectives

The main goal of this endeavour is to create a computer-based teleconference. It also aims to contribute to academic research effort.

1.3 Justification of the project

The need for a teleconference system is clear for various reasons, as seen below:

Teleconferencing has several benefits, including live participation in lectures, legal treatment, access to international conferences, and the ability to provide telemedicine services.

e. It maximises resource utilisation by expanding learning opportunities and bringing resources closer to learners.

f. It addresses time and scheduling challenges for learners who have restricted access to a learning centre due to employment, family, or community commitments.

g. It can be tailored to local training requirements, including content, language, and conditions.

h. Training is high-quality and consistent. Primary sources provide diverse perspectives, and direct input from resource persons ensures high-quality transactions.

i. Using diverse teaching methods improves information retention, appeal, and motivation.

1.4 Scope of the project

The scope of work will include the following:

a. Real-time communication in a dynamic network. b. Capability to create video streaming server.

c. Investigate the capabilities of Visual Basic in data management.

1.5 Project Report Organisation
The report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides an introduction to the project’s background, goals, justification, and scope. The second chapter is a literature review.

The third chapter covers project methodology, analysis, current system limits, system design, flowchart, and top-down design. The input, processing, and output modules are evaluated critically.

Chapter four covers system implementation, testing, and integration, including selecting development tools, defining system requirements, and conducting thorough testing.

Chapter 5 concludes with a summary, recommendations, and conclusions. Limitations, Bill of Engineering Measurement and Engineering (BEME), bibliography, and appendices.
