ABSTRACT
In the course of this research project, an empirical investigation into the impact of infectious epidemics on the production of petroleum was carried out using the Corona virus as a case study. The aims of this study were to evaluate the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria and the impact that level of disease has on the amount of activities related to petroleum production in Nigeria. The oil multinational businesses in Nigeria are the focus of this research, and the infectious illness transmission mechanism hypothesis will serve as the overarching theoretical framework. A survey was chosen as the method of research for this study, and the population that was targeted for this study consisted of all oil multinational corporations located in oil producing regions. The cluster sampling method was utilized, and the sample size was determined to be 400 employees of oil multinational corporate staffs. The questionnaire is the instrument that was utilized for this study. The data obtained came from first-hand accounts and observations. The findings of the study of the data demonstrate that the level of coronavirus disease in Nigeria is average when compared to the levels found in other countries. However, the level of coronavirus disease does have an effect on the amount of petroleum that is produced in Nigeria. As a result of the findings, it was suggested that strategies should be developed to prevent the further spread of the virus, and a vaccine should be developed, so as to eliminate any further risk to the uninterrupted running of activities related to the production of petroleum. The findings of the study indicate that the coronavirus sickness has a detrimental impact on the production of petroleum.
