THE EFFECT OF PARENTS MOTIVATION ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Figures and abstract
The motivation that parents provide to their children can have a significant impact on academic achievement. The study’s goal is to assess parental motivation and junior and senior high achievers. Parental motivation is provided by parents to their students in order to encourage them to work harder or to be more determined in their studies, resulting in higher academic achievement.
The checklist is divided into two sections: parental motivation and level of achievement. The study used a quantitative correlation design. The respondents are high achievers from junior and senior high schools, with a total of 145 respondents.
The researcher used a statistical test called the weighted mean, chi – square, to determine the relationship between the two variables. According to the study, parents do not always provide motivation to their students; however, most parents do provide motivation to their students on occasion.
Students’ achievements, however, remain at a high level. Students’ achievements are not always dependent on their parents’ motivation, but rather on their personality of being determined and consistent in their studies. It is not always the case that parental motivation can improve students’ academic performance.
